Why I think this is important
This is a really great introduction nuclear thermal propulsion. This is the technology that will get humans to Mars and the outer planets 3 times faster than conventional chemical rockets. Some analysts consider this a required technology for survivability of deep space missions (less time outside of planetary magnetic fields that protect from solar storms). The most recent space act is increasing funding and there was a recent DARPA project call for companies to build demonstrators.
