Why I think this is important

The home where Civil rights icon Medgar Evers was assassinated is now a national monument. The National Park Service will oversee the property. Evers, a World War II soldier, was the NAACP’s first field secretary in Mississippi. He led boycotts protesting segregation and led voter drives to register Black citizens.
